I just don't trust all those artificially, & chemically made products out there. I prefer coming up with my own. During the period, I actually took the time to go out, and spend the money on expensive products, seemed to just speed up the aging process on the skin. This turned out to become a nightmare. From then on, I went natural. I vowed to come up with my own treatments. Natural items from the home, that I knew would not be capable of causing anymore harm. These would be by far, produce better turnouts than any chemically made product.
First of all, I discovered, that one must drink plenty of water, and get a minimum of 10 min. exercise in the day to get the blood flowing. This makes a big difference, believe me.
Second of all, stay away from those harshly made products, and follow me. Instead, try:
Water- This is the most effective moisturing tool there is. This is the #1 study from doctors. Using harmful soaps will only clog the pours, and dry out the face. Instead, flush the face daily with water. I find organic soaps made with shea butter to be very soothing on the skin.
Exercise- At least a minimum of 10-30 min. daily- is suggested by doctors. This help to regulate hormones- which plays a big part in the aging process- keep the blood cells flowing, and helps to clear out pours- through sweat glands. This is a very important daily key to a healthy body, and skin.
Avocado- I found that a natural Avo mask helps to sooth irritated skin- especially under, and around the eyes. Great for rest of face, and hands as well. Left my skin feeling so soft afterwards. It helps to nourish, and sooth the skin. Be sure to rinse off after about 2 min. Your skin will feel even softer!
Banana- A natural facial mask helps to exfoliate, moisturize, dry, sensitive, skin.
Oatmeal- A natural facial mask helps to exfoliate, and moisturize sensitive skin. Replenishes the skin, and offers a relief to raw, irritated, feeling skin.
Honey- Honey is full of anti-oxidants, and vitamins! It helps to heal, and restore the skin. Again, rinse off after about 2 min. Works as a good mask.
Cucumber- Contains natural acids that help to loosen the bonds of dead skin cells from the surface. Helps again, to soothe, and moisten the skin.
Pure Shea Butter- Takes away those dark splotches on the skin, and works as a wonderful moisturizer! This secret was discovered in Africa- An intense beauty secret.. Feels soo good! :
Plain yogurt- The more natural/Organic you can go, the better. Use as a facial mask. This exfoliates, smooths, and helps a ligher, fresher complexion. It sooths irritation under, and around the eyes, and leaves your skin feeling so soft. This is a must in every daily routine!
Extra Virgin Olive Oil- Contains Vitaman E, & Turmeric- which help to replenish and nourish the skin cells from the inside out.
Aloe Vera- Aloe Vera leaves are sold separately in local grocery stores. These are found in the produce section. The juice contains within the leaf, when broken. The gel within, contains powerful anti-inflammatory ingrediants, and helps to moisten, as well as to alleviate pain, & discomfort.
Most importantly, when trying to take care of my skin, I discovered, that I needed to take care of myself as well. This included watching what I ate, by choosing more of the natural foods.
- Going for an apple instead of applesauce.
- Drinking water, and natural teas.. rather than juices, sodas, and coffee.
- Staying away from foods in boxes, tubes, etc. However, we can't help running into mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, etc.
- A hint to where all the natural, and 'Good For You foods,' are.. They're actually within the outside perimeter of your local grocery store. Tip: When you shop, stay along the sides of the store, and just work yourself from left to right- or right, to left. That's where you'll find the deli w/ fresh meats, etc., bakery, dairy, naturally made peanut butter, & honeys- from pumps, fresh produce, Aloe vera leaves, barrels- containing whole grains, flax Seed, organic sugars, etc. Check it all out for yourself.. You'll be surprised at all the great goodies to be discovered!
You are what you eat, so a key ingredient to all of this: Is to drink plenty of water, and keep up with your daily vitamins. Fruit supplements- like pure Acai berry, and pomegranate extract, are good as well. These play a big part with your hormones, and help to regulate the metabolism.
Don't forget a minimum daily amount of exercise.. very important.
-This is the trigger to getting it all started. It's what gets your hormones, and metabolism into play. Think of an ignition, and a motor. Can't get the motor running without the ignition to start it.. and can't keep it running in good order, without the proper fuel.

Good point you made about buying commercial products that age your skin. That's the idea to then buy more and more - and well it's all toxic!
I am a big fan of pure shea butter - even wrote a hub about it. And I am all for healthy eating and making your own cosmetics - it works.
Your hub got to the point quickly and cleary! Some easy to follow suggestions that make sense.
Thank you.
Sheryld30,
Nice hub! And great healthy tips!
Blessings

This is excellent info - I, too, learned the hard way about using chemical products on my skin. Fortunately methods that you described above actually reversed the damage! Keep up the good word!
I agree with the oatmeal, it seems to calm down even the most itchy, irritated skin. Thanks.
